'Go for Africa' is a foundation that makes it possible for Dutch automotive science students to spend their apprenticeship
period in technical schools in the Gambia and Senegal. Student teams spend three weeks driving to the Gambia in used cars that
they have specially prepared for the journey. The students are responsible for acquiring their own sponsors to finance the trip.
The remaining weeks of the apprenticeship are spent working on various automotive science projects.
In February of 2010, more than 25 teams from all over the Netherlands participated in the project.
'Go for Africa' has approximately 10 partner schools in Senegal and the Gambia.
Timloto has created lesson material
and
Volvo Trucks has also released lesson material for the project.
Timloto training voor automotive science teachers in the Gambia and Senegal:
Timloto has provided a teachers' training course in the Gambia and Senegal for the second time.
The first course was held in March of 2009 and a follow-up took place in March 2010.

Timloto's primary objective, in this regard, is to make it possible for teachers in West Africa to develop their
own lesson materials. A new course, planned for 2011, will also work towards that goal.

The Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) has announced an interest in co-operating with Timloto in the field of lesson
material development. GTTI also wants to maintain contacts with other technical schools in the area. To start, the teachers
will develop new material that will be made available to GTTI through the Timloto site.
